UMS Content Series: Last of the Easy Riders
by Carlee Henderson
Interview with Christopher Minarik discussing summer plans and UMS shenanigans.
What are you looking forward to most at UMS this year?
Chris: "Debuting some new songs we've been writing this summer and playing our home turf - the HI DIVE!"
What does UMS mean to your band and for the city?
Chris: "It means a lot to us. It's our first year, and it's been a gig we've wanted on since Easy Riders came to fruition. The sense of community the UMS brings to Denver and the local scene only comes once a year and is something not to be missed. The camaraderie is contagious!"
What are your summer plans?
Chris: "We write, we camp, and we try to take advantage of everything the Rockies has to offer. We also have some shows lining up at the Mayan Theatre for a screening of The Who's 'Tommy' and a support slot at the Oriental Theater with the Dirty River Boys."
Favorite local: bands, bars, beers?
Chris: "Bands: Andy Hamilton and the Rocky Mountain Contraband, Serpent Foot (sort of local), High Plains Honky, the Kinky Fingers.
Bars: Lakeview Lounge, Tatarian, American Bonded, Don's Club Tavern, Candlelight Tavern.
Beers/Breweries: Grateful Gnome, Odd 13, Outer Range, Wiley Roots, Crooked Stave, and (no beers here), But we have lots of love for our friends at MILE HIGH SPIRITS!"
